Jane Powell, Director
Jane has been Director of Shift Media since it was founded in 2001. Since then she has overseen market research and content development projects for many of our key clients.
Prior to co-founding Shift Media, Jane Powell established a reputation as a market-driven publisher during 10 years at Palgrave Macmillan, Financial Times Management and Pearson Education. In this period she has built a track record in commissioning and using content in innovative ways in higher education markets.
As online content manager, Jane played a pivotal role in managing and developing the UK's foremost programme of companion higher education websites and online courses at Pearson Education, where she used video, the web and workshops to increase market share. She has commissioned for most professional and education markets and played a major role in building the Macmillan Business brand, as well as establishing marketing, international business, psychology, media studies and strategy lists at Pearson Education.
Jane is a member of the Market Research Society. She has a degree in Economics and a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma. The early part of her career was spent at the National Economic Development Organiation where she worked as statistical assistant supporting economists.

Claire Cameron, Advisor
Claire has a proven track record in both content and market development. Before co-founding Shift Media, she was Director of New Business and Marketing at Pearson Education Distributed Learning. She was responsible for signing and developing profitable deals with university partners while managing global marketing strategy and implementation.
Claire has a background in multimedia production and experience in content development for a variety of channels including the Internet, digital television, SMS and CD-ROM. She was Content Director at Proxicom Inc, now Dimension Data, where she led a consultants' team devising content strategies for Global 1000 companies including BT, Cazanove and Abbey National.
Dave Cameron, Schools Advisor
Dave has taught in secondary schools in both the US and the UK for the past ten years. He worked as a science consultant implementating the Key Stage 3 Strategy in Lambeth, London. During this time, he supported and delivered training on ICT and Interactive Whiteboard techniques to teachers of science across the capital.
Cheryl Luzet, Usability Consultant
Cheryl Luzet leads the usability testing side of Shift Media. A graduate of the Master’s degree in Electronic Publishing at City University, Cheryl has many years’ experience developing and editing content for websites in the travel industry and the NHS. Prior to working at Shift Media, Cheryl worked at South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust where she managed the redevelopment of their website and intranet, testing the sites for usability with patients and staff.
She joined Shift Media at the beginning of 2007 where she has continued her work in usability, working on projects such as usability testing of a new educational learning tool produced by Collins Education and redeveloping a companion website so that it meets accessibility standards.
Helene Henderson, Project Manager
Helene Henderson has been working at Shift Media since 2004. Over this
period she has created many great websites for McGraw-Hill, Sage and Taylor
& Francis. Recent sites include that for the Q&A series, for the
Colloquials series and Stewart Clegg's Managing and Organisations, published
by Sage.
Helene is also involved in the research side of the business. She has
excellent interviewing skills and in addition to her web duties, often
moderates our focus groups.
Ian Large, Editorial Manager
Since graduating in Psychology Ian spent two years in Production at the BBC before embarking on a career in travel writing and research for Footprint Handbooks. Between frequent trips to South Asia he became a qualified copy editor and proof reader, working ostensibly with publishers of travel guidebooks.
Ian joined Shift Media in March 2006 having studied web design, making
him an expert in editing and content management. He has experience with
working with hard copy as well as online and now oversees all aspects
of editorial matters along with questionnaire design. Ian is currently
single and lives in London with his Labrador cross, Izzy.
Jack Wilson Project/Office Manager
Jack joined Shift Media in 2006. Prior to joining Shift he worked as a manager at Holme's Place gym where he developed his skills in electronic communication and administration. Jack project manages many of the research projects undertaken by Shift. His other responsibilities include invoicing, accounts and in-house marketing.
