length of groups, regional spread.
Developing questions for focus groups
Broad rules for question writing. The structure of a group. Question types.
Avoiding bias. How many questions should you have? Group and individual
activities.
Organizing and recruiting focus groups
Incentives, the recruitment process, informed consent, ensuring good attendance,
room setup, filming and recording focus groups, equipment, planning checklists.
Budgeting.
Moderating focus groups
Structure. Dealing with dominant characters, encouraging quiet respondents,
the role of the assistant moderator, note taking. Avoiding bias.
Analyzing and reporting focus groups.
The importance of early analysis. The role of notes and transcripts. Innovative
presentation methods.

Venue
The cost of the course is £375 + VAT; this will cover all of the above and will also include lunch and refreshments. A 10% discount is available to ALPSP members and for bookings of 3 or more from the same organisation.
